VICEROYS TAKE ON THE WORLDs – PROFILE #9 Colette Kitterhing

Wonderwoman Colette Qualifies for Team GBR in Both Europeans and Worlds

coletteGBRI did my first triathlon in 2013, like most people I thought it would be just the one, just to see if I could do it. Little did I know back then that one race would end up being a mild obsession with all things carbon and lycra…

I joined Viceroys soon after and inspired by some of the club members let myself believe that maybe, one day, I too could race with GBR on my bum.

For me 2015’s main goal was getting to Chicago after gaining a place at Edmonton but having to turn it down due to work commitments and so project fast feet began (and is still on-going).

Qualifiers were here all too soon, the nerves greatly helped by having so many others in pink racing with me. As St Neots was a low for me, Dorney is a day I will always remember with a big grin, knowing I had secured the place I had dreamt of.  Perfect race, great day representing the best club and with amazing friends.

O my surprise I was lucky enough to get a place at the Europeans in Geneva in July, pulling on that GB suit in the morning is very special.

It was an amazing experience on one I will always remember, but now it’s time for the big one. Chicago, it’s going to be a blast.

About Kate Wallace

I've always been involved with sport of some description, particularly adrenaline sports (skiing, boarding, kite-surfing, bungi jumps, parachute jumps, mountain biking) and endurance events (7 marathons, lots of halfs, Caledonian Challenge, London to Brighton bike ride, Moonwalk, played/coached rugby), but I'm relatively new to triathlon as it's actually taken the place of other sports after a couple of bad accidents! Although looking at the biographies of all you other Viceroys I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that all I've done are a few team traitahlons (running or cycling leg) and a couple of super sprints and sprints on my own, I'm hoping that being a Viceroy might persuade me that swimming in open water over 400m is actually possible.
